…on being an athlete
i have decided that i am no longer fond of this atheletic build of mine (ok, minus the HUGE belly that is currently hanging over my pants and that i can form a “donut” with when i cup my hands to form an “O” around my belly button… or maybe its more like a bagel….).
ANYWAY, i’m an athelete – er WAS an athelete. i played volleyball all 3.5 years of high school (the last semester i quit because of failing grades), ran track and field (ran relays and hurdles, yes my tiny 5’2″ self jumped over hurdles more than half my size), and danced ballet and just about everything since i was about 5 up to my first year of college, not to mention i still ride my bike (weather permitting).
but because of all this, my calves and thighs are larger than what i’d like for my size. i have trouble fitting my calves into skinny jeans (thighs are just a give in problem). and i have to wear medium tops because my upper torso/ribcage area is too wide (oh, i forgot to mention that i took swimming lessons too, maybe that’s why). but really though, i’d LOVE to have stick legs – it would at LEAST make my legs look somewhat longer (damn asian genes).
i do, however, love my shoulder/collarbone area…. oh! and long neck that i acquired from all those years of ballet training (makes me look skinnier than i really am and prevents ppl from looking at my gut bahahahahaha – you think i’m lying?!?!?! ask my bf, i’ve fooled him for 3 years now).
ok that’s all. just thought i’d share =)
oh and i guess i should be happy my legs don’t look like this:
quick, someone bring back the ghettoville SF yoshi… the ny yoshi is boring.
need more gangsterism.
Bahahaha I’m in a good mood today – don’t ruin it. Maybe I’ll make a post just towards you muwahahahahaha
SHORT AZN HURDLERS, UNITE! I, too, have Asian shortness and sprinter thighs. And a rather surprisingly ponderous ass that makes it really difficult to find pants with the appropriate bum-to-waist ratio.
And yeah, still in and out of the ballet/tap/jazz/modern world, so I at least like my ballerina wrists. But in the end, I ain’t no stick.
I’m right there with you on the Volleyball calves. I see them as a blessing & a curse. Yeah, we can’t fit into the tiny knee high boots, but in pumps, we look like olympians.
Skinny legs arent great. I have to buy shoes with a strap across the ankle in order to make my legs look like they have some kind of calf muscles. Lol. We can trade legs if you want too.
i am RIGHT there with you with the asian leg complex….i would die for some long skinny muscleless legs. I’d wear nothing but booty shorts everydayy
