Summer Shoesies thanks to Timberland!

i apologize for the lack of posts the past week or so but i’ve been pretty busy at work and i haven’t had much to share with you unfortunately hahaha.

however, my friends over at Timberland sent this wonderful package over earlier this week! i received some exclusive sunnies along with Timberland’s Earthkeepers Belle Island Boat ballerina. just in time for the warm weather we’ve been having!

Havaianas Soul Collection @ Reed Space NYC recap!

the other day, i passed by the reed space to check out the havaianas soul collection “all brazil everything” event sponsored by complex.

jay jung was dj’ing, drinks were plenty (well, almost until everything was gone lol), and people were dancing the night away.

i ran into lots of friends, including christine su, nico, jeff and the rest of the staple/reedspace crew.

dorothy hong’s photos of brazil covered the walls and jeff’s own film was shown on the screen. the havaianas soul collection, unisex, was surprisingly well put together and proper for the upcoming spring/summer season coming. i even got to get my own free pair of slippers! i got to choose my colors and obviously went for orange and black =)

“The Letter All Your Friends Have Written You…”

an old friend and co-worker of mine from years ago, tishon, has written a book with his friend cait. the book came about after sharing numerous letters, notes, and poems with one another over a span of about five years.

they decided to compile all their thoughts into a book. i think its really cute and very thoughtful.

For us, poetry is the recognition and celebration of these common experiences. In putting these poems in book form, we hope to add something indelible to the tradition of verse. But, most of all, we want you, after having read the book, to feel a little a closer to, not only us, but every person you’ve ever met. We want it to be poetry you can believe in. Wait, no. That one’s already taken. We want it to be poetry you wouldn’t mind sharing an apartment with.

its also very interesting how they’re reaching out for support of their book.

INSIGHT to open their first US store!

one of my fav brands, INSIGHT, is FINALLY opening up shop in LA this saturday! i love love LOVE their swimwear. their cuts and styles are one of my favorites because it fits just right and always promotes… FUN!

Opening on April 23rd 2011, Insight’s Concept Space is situated on Windward Circle, a stroll away from
the iconic Venice Beach Skate Park, the breakwater and Abbot Kinney’s shopping district.

because i’m fat: brunch with louie and new nails…

had a delightful belated birthday brunch with louise today in williamsburg. she took me to cafe colette and OMG – their food is deeeelicious! i love the atmosphere as well. very rustic yet modern at the same time. we sat at the bar and ordered some coffee, a breakfast sandwich (A MUST), fish tacos, and a side of fries…

i forgot to take pics of the place as well as pics of us because i was so focused on the food – oops!

breakfast sandwich: egg, hollandaise sauce, lettuce, cheese and a side of maple pepper bacon

after brunch we hit up the OAK sample sale down the street (bought 2 tops for $30!) and then met up with suz… we went to the brooklyn flea down by the water (TOO TOO WINDY GAH!) and suz took some photos for an upcoming project.

i liked her nails so much that i ended up going to the nail salon to make my own version hehehe

because i’m fat: happy virthday bern!

its been almost 2 years since i last enjoyed an epstein’s 2-for-1 dinner (in my case, i always ordered the epstein’s burger WITH a side of hot wing sauce). so i was glad to have reunited with my wonderful cheeseburger and celebrate vernie’s bday =)

saw all my old friends (because i NEVER go out anymore, but that’s changing – the sun’s coming out). didn’t take too many pics – focused on my burger lol – but did get april and vern!

5. And just because….

my new hair thanks to yasuko @salonmusa!

when i first moved to new york, i found an amazing hairstylist that could work wonders with chemicals lol! her name is yasuko. she was the one who gave me my afro back in 2006 – see below…

(HOLY CRAP – look at those crazy drawn on eyebrows and acrylics! i was also a few lbs lighter – damn!):

yasuko and her husband opened up their own salon in soho called salon musa. the interior is to DIE for. love love LOVE the aesthetic of the salon! from the vintage typewriters, to the antique barber chairs, to their bathroom (i forgot to take a pic while i was on the toilet – i asked if i could move in bahahahaha!)

anyway, after about 3.5 hours, yasuko worked her magic again and now i don’t have to curl my own hair anymore! tada! yoshi’s hairstyle #78 (or something like that lmao)

ps – is it bad that i LOVE the smell of perm chemicals =X
