the adventures of yoshi

because we’re fat: smorgasburg at the brooklyn flea…

Posted in Because I'm Fat, Events, Friends & Familia by yoshi on May 22, 2011

louise and i met up for a fun-filled day in williamsburg where we devoured plate after plate of overly priced foods from the smorgasburg that opened up this weekend.

we also bumped into a bunch of other friends, which we lost along the way while in search of our next dish lol – oops!

first up, teriyaki balls (pause) by mimi and coco. no line and smelled delicious, so why not?! $5 for 6 balls… teehehe

lola wanted some too!

we each had 2 shrimp, 2 meat, and 2 potatoe topped with teriyaki sauce, japanese mayo, chili peppers and some other goodness:

to wash it all down, we found a bubble tea spot, again no line (that was our strategy obviously), called thirstea (how fun!) i ordered the mango tea and louie got the cranberry – yummers.

once we devoured our munchies, it was off to the next booth. by this time, louise had given her dog to a friend because we needed all hands on deck lol.

we walked over to bite size kitchen for a few bite-sized skewers, ordering beef short ribs, shitake mushrooms, asparagus, and red curry chicken – absolutely delightful.

we scoured the area for these sweet looking things that almost everyone had in their hands, wrapped up in brown parchment paper. louise found them at scratchbread. turns out they were sticky griddled buns! i ordered a few of those plus a creme fraiche + oatmeal + strawberry combo – couldn’t resist!

we took our goodies and headed out of the crowded space to enjoy our sweets in peace by the newly developed park by the condos. we met omar and lola’s babysitter christina, along with her little frenchie lol – these dogs are spoiled i tell ya! but gotta love em. oh yea – was able to get my tan on too! whee!

(outfit deets: cheap monday dress (nasty gal) | cropped top | doc martens | can’t see it, but i’m wearing my new obesity & speed shorts, thanks to jayne lol)

after chatting about the philippines and mopeds lol, we had to go back for some cold desserts. i went in search of the frozen banana cart while omar and louise went to people pops.

tada! NANA (co-owner is cecile, the baker of pies n thighs)! frozen bananas covered in chocolate – i opted for the ice cream sundae version because it came with ice cream – obbbvvvvviously! =)

and with that, i was ready to curl up on the grass and fall into a deep food coma…

however, my day was NOT over yet! louise and i had plans to watch bridesmaids so we hopped on the train and headed out to the city. we were a bit early so we walked over to a chocolate bar called La Burdick Handmade Chocolates.

i ordered a chai tea latte to wake my ass up, and louise got a mocha espresso – wowoweee! and a few samples of chocolate which i let her eat all to herself hehe.

and that, my friends, concluded our day and i fell asleep like a baby.

OH – bridesmaids. WATCH IT – hilllaaaarious!
