on my new Canon Powershot S95…
As you should know by now, I’ve recently purchased the Canon Powershot S95 thanks to a few friends’ recommendations (it was either this or the Panasonic Lumix LX5). After much thought and consideration, I went with the Canon because I’m always on the go and needed something quick and easy without much fuss.
I purchased it from B&H and decided to get the package deal: case, extra battery (since the s95 doesn’t have a long battery life) and another memory card.
My review? I love it so far! The shots are incredible at night WITHOUT flash – check out my Vans post for examples. It’s going to take me a while to figure out all the appropriate settings to use, but I’m slowly getting there =)
For those of you who already own this camera, any advice or comments you’d like to share?
This is my favourite camera… I bought it for the low light and fell in love with the manual settings…. Being able to control the aperture so fast is just so cool…
I bought this leather cover cause it looked cool and it really makes the camera seem like an old range finder you have found on ebay… http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-PSC-900-Leather-Compact/dp/B002OLWITO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1316616171&sr=8-7
It has a tilt shift time lapse feature that I use all the time… love it, it is great for making videos of parties http://vimeo.com/27420430 or of annoying/lovely children you babysit http://vimeo.com/18549652
I ALWAYS take it to live shows and get amazing pics with no flash (thanks to the 2.0 fstop)… I took this at yeasayer http://nhackett.tumblr.com/tagged/s95 … you can set it manually, or just auto it for these…. but manually means you can get some great motion shots…
I use it a LOT for work… I am in vfx and I take it on set to get reference and it is always more than I need… It is amazing having this much control in something you can put in your pocket…
All in all… this is the greatest camera I have ever had…. and I lost it last week on a trip to canada to get a new visa for the states… This is the only camera I have ever thought of buying the exact same one again… I love it that much….
I think you will dig it….
