I’m in the Philippines!

Posted in Uncategorized by yoshi on October 27, 2011

My aunt’s PC is the only laptop that will connect to the internet. However, I can’t blog because I can resize my photos on this thing… I’ll have to figure out how to get her other Macbook air to hook up so I can bring you all up to speed with my life so far!

The Philippines has been wonderful! Went to a few fashion shows, partied with friends, and met even MORE friends!

Keep up with me on Twitter =)

Be back on the blog train soon enough!

Apple picking time at Wright’s Apple Farm!

Posted in Friends & Familia, Travel and Trips by yoshi on October 17, 2011

Apple picking. Yes, this is the season for it! Fall is in the air, the leaves are changing colors, the air is brisk, and it’s about time we get to sip on some hot apple cider and munch on apple pies!!!

Louise, Ina, Cass, Omar, Willis the dog and I hopped in a car and headed out to Wright’s Apple Farm in Gardiner, NY (dog friendly!) to get are fill of apples. Not only do they have an orchard, but their little market gave us a taste of what to expect – we tested out a few of the apples they were growing, one of which was the “Honey Crisp” – we searched high and low for these, only to find out they were all gone =(

They also fry apple cider donuts – hot to serve – along with homemade pies from apple to pumpkin to blueberry – nom nom nom!

We ate a few donuts and for $10, got our bags to start filling with apples! I highly recommend this apple orchard – very friendly and HUGE! You can even picnic there!

mmmmmmm apple cider donutsssssss

Girls Write Now Anthologies…

Posted in Blogosphere, Culture by yoshi on October 16, 2011

A few months ago I had the blessed opportunity to work with a wonderful organization called Girls Write Now in collaboration with an event my friend Susana and I produced, Until The Violence Stops.  And thanks to everyone who attended, all the wonderful proceeds went to Girls Write Now!

As their name indicates, their organization focuses on mentoring and writing instructions within an all-girl programming – the first ever in the US (and the only one on the East Coast) since 1998.

Well, as you know, I participated in Uniqlo’s Voices of New York campaign, and we were able to graciously donate our fees to a non-profit organization/charity of our choice, so obviously GWN was perfect as I am a writer and believe in guiding and encouraging the next generation of female writers to share their stories and words to those who will (or won’t!) listen =)

I just received their newly published Girls Write Now Anthologies which showcases the best original multi-genre writing of each class of their talented high school writers. Thank you Girls Write Now!!!

If interested, you can purchase your own copy on Amazon.com!

Shopping trip to Uniqlo on 5th Ave…

Posted in Fashion by yoshi on October 15, 2011

Decided to make the trip over to the new Uniqlo again, this time to shop shop shop! I ended up purchasing a wool peacoat for $99 and 4 pairs of denim for $9.90!!! Hurry while the prices are still low!

Although there was a line around the corner, it went really fast, and once inside, amidst the chaos, the staff was still able to make you feel welcomed and not rushed at all – which is a rarity in NYC. They were extremely helpful and didn’t mind if you asked them for help!

Saw my face in the front of the store in the elevators hehehehehe! Then Louise saw my face on the other side of the building too! Thanks for sending! Wheeeee!

And yes, I DID request the Hello Kitty Uniqlo shopping bags ❤ ❤ ❤ <3!

Thanks Louise!

Uniqlo Flagship Store Opening NYC Recap

Posted in Events by yoshi on October 15, 2011

Last Thursday evening we celebrated the opening of Uniqlo‘s flagship store right here in NYC on 5th Ave. I was amazed at how HUGE the new store was! Over 89,000 square feet, it is the largest Uniqlo in the world! Upon arrival, we were ushered into the store and up the escalators where we took in a view of multiple floors of product. Japanese guests gave their respects to Uniqlo staff, bowing and shaking hands – an awesome sight.

We walked around the store and I was just in awe of how much product Uniqlo has, the fall/winter collection is definitely very affordable – their Japanese selvedge denim was marked at $9.90?!?!?! (Just for one day however lol!). I saw a few peacoats that I’m going to get my hands on when I go back!

There were large containers full of sake for the ceremonial sake blessing as the owner of Uniqlo, alongside Susan Sarandon, made a toast to the new store and all its guests. We drank the smooth sake from wooden “glasses” – the aroma was beautiful! Bumped into a lot of friends and also made some new ones!

Aside from the fire alarm that went off, the celebration went off perfectly and all the guests left with smiles on their faces and a few souvenirs =)

CONGRATULATIONS UNIQLO AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF THE FAMILY!

Making moves with Mixologi…

Posted in Blogosphere by yoshi on October 13, 2011

My girl Rach and some of her friends have launched an inspiring online project called Mixologi. Bringing together creative minds who are passionate about the Bay Area and the people living in and around it, Mixologi aims to highlight cultural diversity and pursuit of following one’s dreams through social media, events, online content, videos and more.

Can’t wait to see them grow!!! Congrats guys!

Sorry guys, I know you must be tired of my face by now, but I figure this might be the one and only time my face gets plastered all over NYC lol!!! So I’d like to have some evidence to show my grandkids that I was cool at one point in my life… even though I have mom-hair and my eyebrows are painted on like I’m a samurai LMAO!

Thank you Stella, Tiffany and Carlos for sending these to me!!! =P
