Uniqlo Flagship Store Opening NYC Recap
Last Thursday evening we celebrated the opening of Uniqlo‘s flagship store right here in NYC on 5th Ave. I was amazed at how HUGE the new store was! Over 89,000 square feet, it is the largest Uniqlo in the world! Upon arrival, we were ushered into the store and up the escalators where we took in a view of multiple floors of product. Japanese guests gave their respects to Uniqlo staff, bowing and shaking hands – an awesome sight.
We walked around the store and I was just in awe of how much product Uniqlo has, the fall/winter collection is definitely very affordable – their Japanese selvedge denim was marked at $9.90?!?!?! (Just for one day however lol!). I saw a few peacoats that I’m going to get my hands on when I go back!
There were large containers full of sake for the ceremonial sake blessing as the owner of Uniqlo, alongside Susan Sarandon, made a toast to the new store and all its guests. We drank the smooth sake from wooden “glasses” – the aroma was beautiful! Bumped into a lot of friends and also made some new ones!
Aside from the fire alarm that went off, the celebration went off perfectly and all the guests left with smiles on their faces and a few souvenirs =)
CONGRATULATIONS UNIQLO AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF THE FAMILY!
Oh yea! This is what I wore – in true Uniqlo support! =)
Uniqlo – The Flagship Store Opening…
Woohoo! Just received my invite to attend the store opening next week! Can’t wait! Check out their invitations, so thoughtful!
Oh yea, apparently my face is on some posters in the city… my friend Nat found one on his way to a meeting and let me know where to find it hahaha! So, if you find another one, let me know! LOL
Beauty & the Beats Part II @ Rare Salon
Yesterday I attended the second quarterly installment of “Beauty & the Beats” at Rare Salon! I was greeted by the friendly staff of Rare and the beautiful Ness who helped coordinate the event.
Guests who attended were treated to special event services for $40, they included: decorative nail art and manicure by the infamous Naomi Yasuda, make-up by Ashley Spedale and JuliQ Monae, and/or a lovely hair wash and blow-out by the Rare Salon staff headed by the wonderful Fatima =) I actually got all 3 services done and my awesome new straight hair was done by Tammy Reynolds – teeeeehehehehehe!
While I chatted with new and old friends and waited for the next available expert, I munched on mini cupcakes (french toast was my fav!) also made by Ashley through Glittle Cupcake nom nom nom!
Accessories from Hardbody’s F/W collection were also available for purchase, I bought myself a cute ear piece with feathers and received another ear cuff as a gift! LOVE! I also received a pair of D. Brand denim and other goodies including stuff from ReedSpace! We also jammed out to music provided by DJ/Producer Lucas Fable.
If you weren’t able to make it, don’t you worry, there’s another one set for December and I hear it’s going to be even bigger! =)

The Vans DQM General Store Opening – SoHo, NYC
Last night we celebrated The Vans DQM General Store opening in SoHo. The space looks spectacular! Cozy, masculine, and very mature – fitting for the name.
Ray Barbee Meets the Mattson 2 rocked the house and there was a humungous cake (that I of course kept my eye on, keeping close) baked by Natalie – it looked so real! There were also two food trucks parked outside to feed the masses.
This is the first retail store for Vans in Manhattan and the second for DQM.
Congratulations to the entire DQM family (including the bf) and Vans for working day in and day out to open on time!
(Oh yea, I’m shooting with my new Canon S95, I didn’t have time to mess with the settings because I literally bought it an hour before I got to the store lmaooooo!)

CHROME: Wrenched NYC Party!
Last week I met up with the bf and Cardiel at Chrome to celebrate the first issue of WRENCHED magazine. Sharkey and Alex curated photo collections by NYC’s finest: Shadi (yay!), Ricky Powell and Tak (yay!) =)
We didn’t go in until later because it was just too hot in there. We missed the performance by Jeru The Demanja, but heard a bit from outside – couldn’t breathe in there!
Afterwards we went to Happy Ending to hear Cardiel spin some tunes and got the crowd goin hehe.
Enjoy the photos! More HERE on Radcollector
CONGRATS SHARKEY AND ALEX!
MadeMe x Stussy: S+M Collection Preview Recap!
A few days ago I attended the MadeMe x Stussy S+M Collection Preview at the Crosby Hotel. It was a very intimate crowd so there was plenty of room to mingle and catch up with friends. Erin and the Stussy team produced a very entertaining piece to introduce their collaboration.
The little miss Poly Styrofoam stole the show as guests entered the theatre and found her behind the turntables =)
I caught you Will!

UniPro presents: Q&A with the cast and director of Amigo…
Last week I walked over to the Philippine Consulate to listen in on a Q&A for the film Amigo (if you recall, I posted the trailer on my blog a few months ago here). The session was presented by UniPro – Pilipino American Unity for Progress – and was moderated by Bryan, who actually came to our UTVS event hehe.
The panel of three included Academy Award nominated director John Sayles, producer Maggie Renzi, and one of the stars of the movie, Joel Torre.
I came a bit late as I had to work, but I was able to catch John Sayles telling the audience how and what he researched in order to bring this “hidden truth” to the big screen.
I’m very exited to watch this film and it will be premiering here in NY at AMC Empire at 42nd Street on August 19th! I also met a few other members of UniPro, if you have the time, please check out their site, I’m looking forward to attending more of their events to support our people =)
Shoot – another forgotten name… but I hear you’re an awesome musician/songwriter =)
For more information on Amigo, you can visit their site HERE
