Uniqlo Flagship Store Opening NYC Recap

Posted in Events by yoshi on October 15, 2011

Last Thursday evening we celebrated the opening of Uniqlo‘s flagship store right here in NYC on 5th Ave. I was amazed at how HUGE the new store was! Over 89,000 square feet, it is the largest Uniqlo in the world! Upon arrival, we were ushered into the store and up the escalators where we took in a view of multiple floors of product. Japanese guests gave their respects to Uniqlo staff, bowing and shaking hands – an awesome sight.

We walked around the store and I was just in awe of how much product Uniqlo has, the fall/winter collection is definitely very affordable – their Japanese selvedge denim was marked at $9.90?!?!?! (Just for one day however lol!). I saw a few peacoats that I’m going to get my hands on when I go back!

There were large containers full of sake for the ceremonial sake blessing as the owner of Uniqlo, alongside Susan Sarandon, made a toast to the new store and all its guests. We drank the smooth sake from wooden “glasses” – the aroma was beautiful! Bumped into a lot of friends and also made some new ones!

Aside from the fire alarm that went off, the celebration went off perfectly and all the guests left with smiles on their faces and a few souvenirs =)

CONGRATULATIONS UNIQLO AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF THE FAMILY!

Here’s one thing you may or may not know about me by now. I’m one of those friends who hangs out and then disappears for a few days, weeks, months, or even years before coming back into the mix. Why? I’m not actually sure, I get super busy with work, then I don’t feel like hanging out, or I just don’t want to go out past 9pm, which most of my friends do hahaha – total Lola status.

Anywho, I FINALLY got to have dinner with my girls Simone and Christine (last time we were all together it was at the Eclipse movie bahahaha). We enjoyed a healthy-ish dinner at Pylos, a Greek restaurant in the East Village. The decor was beautiful and the food was quite tasty!!!

I don’t remember what we ordered hehehe…

After scarfing down our dinner, we walked across the street to Butter Lane. Right when you take that first step into this charming cupcake shop, the scent of wonderful baked goods hits your nostrils and you’re instantly craving for a cupcake…. or 3!!! I was so stuffed, however, that I actually left with only one bite of Simone’s banana cake topped with salted caramel and chocolate ❤

CLAE 10 Year Anniversary with LTD Event!

Posted in Events by yoshi on July 22, 2011

A few nights ago friends and fam celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Clae Footwear. I can’t believe its already been 10 years! Congrats!!! We came together with LTD (thanks Mike!) at the Hotel Rivington’s Penthouse, with Modelo serving up the beverages. From the roof, we had a perfect view of the sunset. The heat wasn’t soooo bad, but after a few drinks, I was definitely feeling the dog days of summer bark at me.

I ran into so many friends I hadn’t seen in years – mini reunion!

EVENT: Until The Violence Stops…

Posted in Events by yoshi on June 5, 2011

you know… with all my yapping away i do on this blog, i’ve realized the strength and power of one’s voice.

i can talk all day about fashion, what i did over the weekend, what i ate today, who i’m crushing on, what i’m doing at work, but this time around, i’ve decided to use my voice to help spread social awareness for a great cause.

susana of the debs nyc, approached me a few weeks ago to help co-produce and co-host an event in support of V-Day and gaining a partnership with Vagina Monologues founder, Eve Ensler. the event we were to plan included a screening of “Until The Violence Stops,” a film by Abby Epstein.

by teaming up with the debs, we knew we didn’t want to limit our reach just towards activists already participating (although we love them!), but we wanted to reach out towards our peers and friends. our goal then became to open the eyes of the people we work with, party with, brunch with, to shed light on issues that could effect the people we know and love all over the world.

with that said, here’s a flyer for the event, i hope some of you can make it and i would definitely LOVE to meet you if you did =)

Project Heal Manila: An Evening In Manila Recap!

Posted in Events, Outfit, Uncategorized by yoshi on May 16, 2011

For those of you who couldn’t make it out to Imelda Marcos’ old townhouse by Central Park for An Evening in Manila hosted by Project Heal Manila, you missed out on a spectacular affair!

Everyone looked ravishing in their cocktail attire. The drinks were plenty, I myself drinking 2 Pacquiao Punches (rum, pineapple, mango, ginger, and some other goodness) and the hors d’ouevres – both catered by the Maharlika (go Nicole!).

I, along with I’m sure all the other guests, were excited to come together for one evening in support of the already steady movement to raise awareness around Filipino culture to our generation (and I say “our” as in the younger 1st generation). All proceeds from the event went to PIDCI.

I brought Louise as my date and we picked up Rich and Justin on the way up to E. 66th where we found ourselves entering a HUGE townhouse (8 floors) with an amazing interior. I finally got to meet Marissa, one of the founders of Project Heal Manila, I also got to meet new friends as well!

In short, I’m truly inspired and proud to be a part of a growing community of young Filipinos who are striving share our culture with not only the rest of the world, but to our own people. It was truly a wonderful evening in Manila…
