Girls Write Now Anthologies…

Posted in Blogosphere, Culture by yoshi on October 16, 2011

A few months ago I had the blessed opportunity to work with a wonderful organization called Girls Write Now in collaboration with an event my friend Susana and I produced, Until The Violence Stops.  And thanks to everyone who attended, all the wonderful proceeds went to Girls Write Now!

As their name indicates, their organization focuses on mentoring and writing instructions within an all-girl programming – the first ever in the US (and the only one on the East Coast) since 1998.

Well, as you know, I participated in Uniqlo’s Voices of New York campaign, and we were able to graciously donate our fees to a non-profit organization/charity of our choice, so obviously GWN was perfect as I am a writer and believe in guiding and encouraging the next generation of female writers to share their stories and words to those who will (or won’t!) listen =)

I just received their newly published Girls Write Now Anthologies which showcases the best original multi-genre writing of each class of their talented high school writers. Thank you Girls Write Now!!!

Uniqlo Flagship Store Opening NYC Recap

Posted in Events by yoshi on October 15, 2011

Last Thursday evening we celebrated the opening of Uniqlo‘s flagship store right here in NYC on 5th Ave. I was amazed at how HUGE the new store was! Over 89,000 square feet, it is the largest Uniqlo in the world! Upon arrival, we were ushered into the store and up the escalators where we took in a view of multiple floors of product. Japanese guests gave their respects to Uniqlo staff, bowing and shaking hands – an awesome sight.

We walked around the store and I was just in awe of how much product Uniqlo has, the fall/winter collection is definitely very affordable – their Japanese selvedge denim was marked at $9.90?!?!?! (Just for one day however lol!). I saw a few peacoats that I’m going to get my hands on when I go back!

There were large containers full of sake for the ceremonial sake blessing as the owner of Uniqlo, alongside Susan Sarandon, made a toast to the new store and all its guests. We drank the smooth sake from wooden “glasses” – the aroma was beautiful! Bumped into a lot of friends and also made some new ones!

Aside from the fire alarm that went off, the celebration went off perfectly and all the guests left with smiles on their faces and a few souvenirs =)

CONGRATULATIONS UNIQLO AND THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BE A PART OF THE FAMILY!

Uniqlo – The Flagship Store Opening…

Posted in Events by yoshi on October 8, 2011

Woohoo! Just received my invite to attend the store opening next week! Can’t wait! Check out their invitations, so thoughtful!

Oh yea, apparently my face is on some posters in the city… my friend Nat found one on his way to a meeting and let me know where to find it hahaha! So, if you find another one, let me know! LOL

because i’m fat: Brunch with ToeKnee! (better late than never!)

Posted in Because I'm Fat, Friends & Familia by yoshi on July 22, 2011

This post is about 2 weeks late oops!

TK was in town for some “work” hehehehe, more like having a blast with Henessey! LOL! I love talking to this guy, he has the best stories and even though he’s a prince, he’s very humble. BAHAHAHA! ❤

No, but really, Tony’s the shit, he’s like the boy version of me in a way. I think… but not a homebody like me lol!

We decided to have brunch at The Cupping Room – best decision ever – and he brought along his friend (I’ve been HORRIBLE at remembering names lately) *edit: VINCE IS HIS NAME! My boy Rich also met us up there – was freakin hot as balls that day!

We laughed, we ate, we talked shit, we took photos. TK – move out here already!!!

One of the things I love about summer is that I am able to get a few shades darker and wear peaches and pinks!

Oh yea, my perm is growing out and I’m finally able to mess around with different hairstyles. I was tempted to cut my hair a few days ago, but after I brush out the curls and tie that shit back, I’m kinda feelin’ it… for now =P

outfit deets: f21 denim jacket | h&m dress (damn, I’ve had this dress for about 6 years now, maybe that’s why its so tight =X) | ASOS sandals

outfit deets: dress (NastyGal) | hellz bellz denim | MadeMe x Vans chukkas

Shop Nasty Gal

And just because I still get the question… yes… that’s me.

rode my moped to luella’s 1 year bday partay!

Posted in Friends & Familia, Mopeds by yoshi on May 30, 2011

woohoo! finally hopped on the moped for a quick ride over to the tunney’s to celebrate little luella’s 1 year birthday!

had to adjust a few things though (and sadly, someone stole my puch odometer, but i guess it looks pretty awesome still). johnny helped fix my front brake and i fixed the idling issue.

the thing about mopeds is that they’re unpredictable. you never know if its gonna stall out or why it won’t start. that’s why having a proper tool kit at all times is a must. other than that, they’re fairly easy to diagnose.

made it to the house and joey pep got there the same time – he took a spin too hahaha – he’s like a pro!

then we headed to the backyard where the grill was already going with burgers, skewers of awesomeness and sweets galore (there were a lot of kiddies around!) so cute!

the bday girl and her momma!

ADORABLE!

to the left is luella's big sister ruby... i love her too!

a lovely summer day in brooklyn…

Posted in Bicycles by yoshi on May 30, 2011

the weather’s been beautiful and i’ve been trying to enjoy every moment of it outdoors. now that we live across the street from prospect park, its so easy for me to head out and find a spot to lay out.

after a quick brunch of dumplings (bought frozen from vanessa’s – yea! you can!), i took my bike and rode over – i also brought the hunger games with me (apparently i had 2 copies of the book on my bookshelf, no idea how??). started reading, but the sun won me over and i fell asleep hahaha!

by the way, there are some serious kite flyers out there – some reaching outer space! (no, not really)

oh yea, took a ride down nostrand – this is cute:
