…on being a fatty: PUNCHLINE JUICE BAR

Posted in Because I'm Fat by yoshi on August 27, 2010

a few weekends ago, suz, the bf and i trekked out on a sunday morning ride (something we all need to do more often) and headed out to take some photos of brooklyn spots for an upcoming project suz and i are working on. one of these stops was punchline juice bar in crown heights.

we got there just as damien (i think he’s the owner) was coming out of his car to open up shop. side story (real quick) i guess he was having himself a morning uhm… smoke… his car started to smoke too. there were cops, firetrucks, and confusion. but damien stayed cool throughout it all – even got all our drinks and wheatgrass shots made without any hesitation after he “put the smoke out.” BAHAHAHAHHAHA!

wheat grass shots with ginseng, cayenne pepper, and ginger… oh and an orange to chase it down =)

bottoms up! it didn’t taste bad at all! i actually liked it! =)

…on being a fatty: YAFFA CAFE

Posted in Because I'm Fat by yoshi on August 27, 2010

ever since kerin, jess, and i ate here a few years back, YAFFA is always my go to restaurant when i’m up for a healthy, but flavorful, fix. i also like the atmosphere there – very uhm… patricia field or betsey johnson, or as the bf mentioned, “i think your tall red-head friend’s apartment looks like this huh?” and indeed kerin’s apt DOES look like this bahahhaha!

a few days ago, the bf and i hit it up and ordered from their specials menu (i felt like dropping some dough that night). he ordered the swordfish infused with lemon and mashed potatoes, and i ordered the miso glazed tuna with pickled ginger and spinach… *i actually liked the swordfish better =/

we also had salads with their delicious carrot dressing to start and a side of brown rice, because, well, we’re asian and we need rice.

and for dessert (because i just had to), we ordered walnut, sour cream, apple pie with whipped cream – drrrrroooooolllll!

P-Rod at Nike Stadium…

Posted in Events by yoshi on August 26, 2010

first off – whoever was handling the “guest list” line outside nike stadium should be FIRED. that’s all i’m saying about that.

trudy and i finally made it in regardless, and went straight downstairs to down some drinks. p-rod was down there with a bunch of other skaters, but honestly, i could care less – there was a big bowl of nachos and salsa calling my name with 2 tecata’s in hand. (don’t worry, i went for the chips all the way at the bottom for hygiene sake… yea… like that really helps lol).

@trudatnyc

there was NO ONE downstairs… i dont know why everyone wanted to stay upstairs?! oh right. gucci mane was performing. after i left, i guess lil kim showed up FML.

gucci mane is one ugly mo fo… but props. =P

Keds: Opening Ceremony and Jeffrey

Posted in Shoes Shoes Shoes by yoshi on August 21, 2010

received a mysterious package the other week at my old office so i walked over to pick it up (turns out my old boss is now the new occupant of our old office!), sure enough it was for me. a package from keds!

no i’m not entirely sure who sent it, there wasn’t any info, but for all i know it could have been the folks over at night agency (whom i’ve been working with the past few months for Keds Whitney), or dante, or the obviously Keds themselves! regardless, THANK YOU!!!!! ❤

i couldn’t dig up that much information about this new collaboration, however, i DO know that the studded pair of black suede keds is part of an upcoming Keds x Opening Ceremony collaboration and the white leather (?) pair is from another upcoming collection, Keds for Jeffrey (i’m assuming Campbell? *editor’s note: just an update that it might be Jeffrey the boutique in meatpacking district lol thanks KERIN!). there were other styles as well that were distributed… check out my girl vashtie’s pairs!

the insole for both pairs is a lot different than what i’m used to, i guess its because of the new “shock-proof arch support!” i definitely wore these home riding my bike… it was perfect =)

THANK YOU KEDS!!!!

huge THANK YOU to Timberland and Team Epiphany!

Posted in Fashion by yoshi on August 19, 2010

i am EXTREMELY grateful for the generous package i received the other day from Timberland and Team Epiphany!

the items items i found in the package will help me “maximize” my outdoor time. i was quite taken aback when i opened the box to find a huge carry-all Timberland bag that, in it, a pair of boat shoes and a fleece blanket – was not expecting that AT ALL.

i also found an envelope and a card that provided details about the Timberland gear. apparently the carry-all bag and blanket are exclusive products to the members of “THE LIST.” whoa. i’m not worthy! lol!

Timberland and Team Epiphany, you’ve really pushed the standards of marketing and promotions to a higher level, i applaud you and i THANK YOU again, i am looking forward to what else you have in store for us!

*special thanks to JAN!
